About
Welcome to the Cat Convention! You’re probably here because you’re eager to learn more about Apple products. You’ve come to the right place!
The Cat Convention was created due to a perceived lack of information on running Apple products in an enterprise environment. Typically, when you think about an enterprise, you think Windows. Apple has worked hard to change that perception over the years. We’re here to help you on that very journey.
Why “The Cat Convention?”
If you were to look back over the years, Apple has codenamed each successive release of OS X based on some type of feline. If you were to put all of those felines in a room, you might think, “Well, hell… that’s one serious cat convention!” Okie, maybe you wouldn’t. But we did. So thus the name of this site was born.
Yeah, if Apple were to stop using feline classifications for future OS X releases, we’d probably be screwed. But ya know, we’ll just walk that bridge when we come to it.
What We’re Going To Do
We’re going to provide you one interesting destination on the net for excellent information on Apple. You probably already figured that out. We do not intend to run a site that will simply copy and paste news from other outlets. We’re not out to compete with news sites and pile-on the news. We do share an enthusiasm for the platform, but frankly there are people out there equipped very well to handle the news pieces. We wanted to give you a good place to sit and read about the platform and solutions. We wanted to give you a coffeehouse to communicate with your fellow IT folks seeking to implement solutions in the enterprise that aren’t based solely on Windows.
You’re not going to find any information other than (what we believe to be) the truth on this stuff either. If something’s ugly or unfortunate, we’re going to call it out and help you deal with it.
Not only are we going to offer posts on all of these subjects, we’re going to offer a line of video podcasts. The podcasts will cover HowTos and information to help get through your daily IT battle. We hope you’ll find the podcasts entertaining enough to subscribe and make it a part of your regular podcast tour. Later, we may offer audio talk shows or other interactive elements… but for now, we’re keeping it simple while we get warmed up.
Who We Are
Interested in these freaky personalities, eh? Well, that’s fine. We’ll provide some info on ourselves.

Jason Miller
Yeah, this guy. Gotta watch out for him. He’s just some loser that started with computers when he was in his teens. His first computer was a Timex Sinclair. What a loser, right? Well, his second computer was an Apple ][. You might think that’s where he entered the awesome world of Apple, yes? Well, no. You see, he mistakenly diverged his life away from the Apple platform when the 286 processors came out.
After all those years and several IT jobs later, Jason switched back to the Mac in 2006 when they announced a change to Intel processors. The Mac became his single best weapon for getting through his daily battle. The enthusiasm for computing returned. Windows had almost killed it, really.
So here he is, running this very site as a moonlighting gig. Jason felt like there was a significant lack of coverage of the platform on the enterprise front and so, in conjunction with his efforts at Red Abstract, Inc., he formed this website to attract IT implementors interested in the Mac platform as the driver of the infrastructure. He fully believes that Apple has been working on a beautiful response to the Windows dominance in this market. It’s time to share that info with others.
